KODAMA Interiors

Inspired by the beauty of nature’s aesthetics, our collection extends beyond high-quality wood furniture, accompanied by organic light fixtures and antique art, to harmonize modern spaces and create an ambiance. The concept of Kodama Interiors is inspired by the Japanese folklore of spirits that inhabit trees. Like the spirits, each tree slab is magical and mysterious, unique with beautiful tree lines.

Our custom furniture selection is made from solid Acacia wood slabs. Our Bali-style decor pieces reflect timeless elegance, cultural richness and mystery. Committed to personalized design customization, we ensure that each element of our collection will align seamlessly with your vision.

We specialize in crafting live-edge wood dining tables and furniture, including organic round coffee tables, desks, bookshelves, and architectural features, using the most durable and wide Acacia tree wood slabs. Every space has a unique story to tell. That’s why our services extend beyond custom furniture; we offer complete design customization, garden design, and sourcing consulting for exquisite items.

The artist Luc Van

Twenty years ago, Luc embarked on a journey fueled by his passion for creating one-of-a-kind pieces to enhance hospitable spaces. High-end hospitality has been deeply rooted in his character since his early childhood. After years of corporate life, working as an engineer, Luc found himself drawn to the allure of kite surfing and pursuing something more meaningful than the sterile environments of the material world.
During his travels, he worked at a high-end hotel in Bali, where he realized the profound impact of soulful spaces. This revelation led him to establish his wood furniture shop, a venture born out of a desire to infuse warmth and authenticity into living spaces.

With a background in engineering and a keen interest in the hospitality industry, Luc understood the importance of creating environments that evoke emotions and leave a lasting impression. He recognized the demand for well-designed spaces among travelers and property seekers, Luc conducted extensive market research to validate his vision.

Luc discovered that properties imbued with vibe and soul were easier to rent and commanded higher market value. This realization and the increasing scarcity of quality wood fueled his passion for crafting bespoke furniture pieces that added soul to spaces and appreciated value over time. Luc’s journey and passion transform into crafted pieces of unique furniture, light fixtures, hand-made art and an exquisite collection of antiques and Bali-style art.

ACACIA WOOD

The vast majority of our products are made from Acacia wood. Acacia wood shares similar characteristics with teak wood, both hardwoods known for their durability and longevity with minimal upkeep. However, one notable difference lies in the price point, with Acacia being considerably more affordable than teak wood
.
Originating from South and Central America, this particular variant of Acacia was introduced to other regions with suitable climates, such as Thailand, several centuries ago. Although widespread in tropical areas, Acacia is not native to Southeast Asia and is typically planted along roadsides and in parks rather than in natural rainforests.

In Thailand, the tree often overpopulates other plant species. Interestingly, the Thai Forest Department views the Acacia as undesirable, as it tends to dominate space that indigenous species like teak could otherwise inhabit. We buy mainly from one reliable supplier, so we always know where the tree came from, who felled it, with which license, etc. We work exclusively with legally harvested timber that is produced sustainably. The ‘Acacia’ is considered a very sustainable choice in wooden furniture.
